I do not reload, but not sure if a plus P .45 ACP would offer that much more potentcy. My 1911 was stoked with my usual self defense carry rounds. Perhaps the .357 would be a better choice of the two.

By contrast, the .357 Magnum round is about 35,000 PSI and is anywhere from 1,200 to 1,400 fps from the 4" barrel. Personally, I like and use both.
