I do not reload, but not sure if a plus P .45 ACP would offer that much more potentcy. My 1911 was stoked with my usual self defense carry rounds. By contrast, the .357 Magnum round is about 35,000 PSI and is anywhere from 1,200 to 1,400 fps from the 4" barrel. Personally, I like and use both.
